Keep the Faith: Hope and Healing
A Global Perspective on Women's Voices
International Digital Symposium | December 8 & 9, 2020
Please join Intersections International, Al Amana Centre and FELM for a two-day, virtual gathering that will celebrate stories of hope and healing from global women during this COVID crisis. Multi-faith leaders, activists and artists from around the world will convene for this online event exploring pathways for women’s empowerment at this critical time of pandemic.
Intersections International is committed to working to end all forms of discrimination worldwide by 2025. COVID-19 has exacerbated gender discrimination in dramatic ways. The pandemic has worsened the gap between the numbers of women and men living in poverty; it is expected to drive more than 96 million people into extreme poverty by 2021—47 million of whom are women and girls. Women are overrepresented in the industries that are hardest hit by COVID-19, such as food service, retail and entertainment. Domestic violence has risen dramatically during this crisis, impacting women’s safety and mental health, as well as their essential work as primary caregivers in the home.
These are consequences that will outlast the pandemic. We want to examine real ways forward. Participants will have opportunity to listen deeply and dialogue meaningfully as we develop a faith-infused framework for navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 era. Our collective aim is to cultivate and maintain a growing network of multi-faith leaders, intergenerational peacebuilders and community change-makers.
We hope you will lend your voices to this virtual gathering for global engagement!
